Cornelia Funke

Cornelia Funke is German, and a month or two ago my grandma took me to a reading at the Free Library.
She read from her newest book, Inkdeath, part of the Inkheart trilogy. Ink: heart, spell and death.
I bought Inkdeath and got it, and Inkheart, signed!
That was a lot of fun.
If you haven't read any of her books, buy one of her books!!!!
More about Cornelia and her books later!!

LITTLE SISTER AND THE MONTH BROTHERS

LITTLE SISTER AND THE MONTH BROTHERS
by Bearice Schenk de Regniers, Pictures by Margot Tomes (Out of Print)

PB $5.95 SOLD!

HB $19.95

This is just an old favorite.
This is pretty much a version of Cinderella.
So, Little Sister lives with her evil stepmother and vain stepsister.

She's really pretty, so they want to get rid of her.
It's winter, and there's a blizzard. They send her out to gather non-existent violets.
Sister can't go back without them. She is about to give up and freeze, when she sees the fire of the month brothers.
Brother April gives her violets, and she goes home.
When she is sent back in the blizzard for non-existent strawberries, she knows what to do. June gives her berries and she leaves.
The steps love the berries and want more. The stepsister goes and the brothers won't give her the berries. she gets lost in a new blizzard. The Mother goes to look for her and gets lost too.
Little sister lived alone for a few months until a farmer proposes to her. They get married, and as you might guess, they live as happily ever after as is realistic.

MY BOOKS

As most of you can tell from my blog, I LOVE to read.
In fact, my two favorite books fell apart, Betsy and Tacy go over big hill, and Harry Potter 5. This list also includes HP 3 and the full Chronicles of Narnia.
My next review about Harry Potter 5 will include a picture showing my copy split at the middle exactly at chapter 15, The Hogwarts High Inquisitor.
By the way, if anyone hasn't read Harry Potter or the Betsy-Tacy series, they really should.
We have some new arrivals at the store, including: Isabel, Jewel of Castilla, Camp Princess, The Last Girls of Pompeii, and more. I also got two books for my book club that I will review: Annie Between the States, and January 1905.

BETSY and TACY by Maude Hart Lovelace

BETSY and TACY by Maude Hart Lovelace (Hardback w/Dustjacket) $11.95 SOLD!

These books are the same books, but look at the difference!

Look at the nice old-fashioned Lois Lenski cover, then look at the ug-u-ly 60th anniversery addition and compare. I like the top one. There are even worse copys of some of this series, like the Diane Goode cover for Betsy's junior and senior years, they don't suit the books at all.

Which of these two would you rather have???????????????????

Four children, Jane, the oldest, Mark, the only boy, Katherine, the middle child, and Martha, the youngest and quite difficult, were walking home from the Library, when Jane sees a nickel, or so she thinks. The nickel turns out to be a magic talisman that works by halves (e.g. I wish i were twice as far as home, then you go home). but when the children's mother borrows a nickel, and wishes she were home, she only gets half way home luckily a little man with a little beard driving an automobile comes along and drives her home, but at the end of the book that drive becomes a lot more than a way to get home.

WHEN AGNES CAWS by Candace Fleming and Giselle Potter

When Agnes Caws by Candace Fleming and Giselle Potter (NEW HB) $9.95

Agnes, daughter of a famous ornithologist, Prof. Octavia Peregine, could do the courtship dance of the blue-footed booby at age three. When she was five she could copy the flight of the yellow bellied sapsucker. But her real talent appeared when she was eight. In Borneo on a bird watching trip, a shriek came through the air. It was the cry of a golden fronted leaf bird. "...'you mean this?' said Agnes 'Cawaak caweek eek eek eek'" and a flock of the birds came fluttering down to the ground.

The Newspaper, after hearing of this amazing team, sent them on a quest to find THE BEAUTIFUL, THE RARE, Pink-headed duck! But can they save it before evil Colonel Pittsnap finds it, and stuffs it for his collection?

And, in addition to all this, it has great pictures by Giselle Potter.
